Tello Reaping Rewards Of Record

Norco (Calif.) guard Adam Tello was one of the big reasons Toby Gerhart set the state rushing record, and now Tello is beginning to receive heavy interest from a host of schools.

Norco (Calif.) was home to the most productive running back in state history for the past four years in Stanford-bound Toby Gerhart.

One of the guys who made that possible for Gerhart is offensive lineman Adam Tello (6-4, 280), who has turned blocking for the state's all-time leading rusher into a trio of early scholarship offers and interest from even more schools.

"Boston College and Colorado State just offered me" said Tello. "San Diego State had offered me before. I'm getting a lot of letters from Illinois, Utah, Oregon, Hawaii and Colorado too."

What about the two Los Angeles schools?

"Oh yeah, I'm hearing from both USC and UCLA. I went to USC's Junior Day. I couldn't make it to UCLA's," Tello said. "I'm pretty wide open but I like USC, UCLA, Boston College, Hawaii and Colorado State. USC is my leader."

Tello, though, said he wasn't going to make a hasty decision.

"I'm going to take some time and take some trips. I'll probably worry about it after the season. I just want to focus on our season. A lot of people thought it was a fluke we won (the CIF Division X title), so we're focusing more. It was nice to get attention for what Toby did, so now we have to win without him," Tello said.

This spring, Tello is possibly going to attend the Combine in Los Angeles but will be at the Stanford Nike Camp with a group of teammates.

Academically, Tello has a 2.5 GPA and will take the SAT in June.
