Bruin Coaches Visit Serra

Head Coach Karl Dorrell, out on the recruiting trail during the spring evaluation period, stops in on Gardena (Calif.) Serra, where he had a chance to check in on three UCLA recruits, linebacker Apaiata Tuihalamaka, receiver Anthony Boyles and d-lineman Da'John Harris...

College coaches from the top football programs in the country continue to swing by Gardena (Calif.) Serra High and the latest high profile coach was UCLA head football coach, Karl Dorrell.

"Karl Dorrell came by yesterday," Serra Coach Scott Altenberg said. "He spent about an hour or so and he's recruiting Apaiata Tuihalamaka, Anthony Boyles and Da'John Harris, and he's real excited about all of them. Right now he's just putting them through the admission process to determine if they could be admitted. Anthony and Api haven't taken the SAT and Da'John has.

"He said they're recruiting Anthony as a wide receiver, Api as a linebacker and Da'John as a defensive end. He was there for quite a while, just like Coach Carroll. They haven't offered any wide receivers yet and when they do, he said Anthony will probably be one of them."

Altenberg said he and Dorrell talked about Boyles' swagger, and Dorrell said, "That's the kind of cocky we like."

Altenberg said Cal and Colorado State stopped by this week, but he wasn't on campus. He also said Michigan and Washington will be at Serra today, and Miami and Texas will visit next week.
