Malcolm Lee, the 6-3 sophomore guard from Riverside North, hasn't received much national recruiting hype yet, but he figures to draw major attention this summer. He talks a little about his recruitment and tells us two local programs are at the top of his early list...
, 6-3 SO PG/SG Riverside (Calif.) North, has all the tools to be a big-time player. Long and rangy, Lee is a good athlete and potentially a very good defender. He's got a nice stroke to beyond the three-point line. He has a good, not exceptional, handle and he sees the court well. His shot selection and decisions need to be cleaned up, but he has a significant upside. With continued development, he could end up one of the elite point guards in the class of 2008.
We spoke with Lee recently and asked him about the programs showing early interest in him.
"UCLA, USC, Texas A&M, Arizona State and Florida," said Lee.
When asked if he's particularly high on any school at this time, Lee said, "UCLA and USC -- I'm high on those two right now."
Lee talked a little about what he is looking for in a program.
"I like to run," said Lee. "I could stay in the west, but I could really go anywhere. My parents want me to stay close. Playing time is not really a consideration."
We asked Lee if he'll be attending any college camps in June.
"I'm supposed to go to the UCLA and USC camp," said Lee.
Lee told us he currently has a 3.2 GPA.
