Howland Scouts Adidas

UCLA's Head Coach Ben Howland made his appearance at the Adidas Superstars Camp in Suwanee, Georgia, Friday, and obviously had his eye on some specific prospects. Among the two junior point guard prospects, one of them has an edge at the camp Friday...

UCLA Head Coach Ben Howland arrived in Suwanee, Georgia, for the Adidas Superstar Camp Friday, joining assistant Donny Daniels.

Assistant Kerry Keating has been planted at the Reebok ABCD Camp in Teaneck, New Jersey, since Thursday.

Howland immediately watched a game that matched up junior point guard Jerime Anderson against his friend and co-UCLA prospect, junior guard Jrue Holiday.

Howland was then in attendance at the game of junior forward Luke Babbitt and sophomore wing Reeves Nelson, while also watching the game of junior point guard Larry Drew.

In the evening session, it appeared that Howland watched the same prospects.

Anderson has been very aware of the UCLA coaches, at one point Thursday nodding to Daniels before his game.

Howland spent Thursday at the Nike Camp in Indianapolis, but didn't see one of his top recruiting targets, Kyle Singler, the 6-8 junior forward. Frank Burlison reports from the Nike Camp that Singler is slated to arrive at the camp Saturday morning.

On the day at Adidas, Drew had a better performance than Anderson. Drew, having come to the camp last year and with more experience playing against superior talent, was more comfortable, aggressively asserting himself. Anderson, with his teammates jacking up shots quickly, seemed to get a bit more passive Friday.

Babbitt wasn't as productive Friday as he was Thursday, which will possibly move him down the lists of many performance-related scouts. He's still the same prospect, though.

Off to the Reebok ABCD Camp Saturday…
