Fall Football Camp Notes

With the season a month away, UCLA's ticket sales are doing well, the incoming freshmen are in class, some seniors will graduate early, three walk-on players are added to the roster, including a quarterback, and there is some news about former UCLA quarterback great, Troy Aikman...

From UCLA's release:

With four weeks until the season opener versus Utah, UCLA is currently 2,500 season tickets ahead of last year's final total.

Nineteen of the 20 incoming scholarship freshmen attended summer school to get a head start on their academic careers.

Three of UCLA's nine scholarship seniors -- center Robert Chai, tight end J.J. Hair and wide receiver Junior Taylor -- are scheduled to graduate at the end of the Fall quarter.

Thirty members of the football team made the Director's Honor Roll (3.00 or better GPA) for the Spring Quarter.

Three new non-scholarship players will be with the Bruins for the opening of Fall camp -- McLeod Bethel-Thompson (#14), a freshman quarterback from San Francisco, CA; Chris Meadows (#30), a redshirt sophomore defensive back from Redondo Beach, CA; and Vachi Sevajian (#99), a redshirt sophomore defensive lineman from Pasadena, CA who was on the track team last year.

Twenty years ago, Troy Aikman was preparing for his redshirt season at UCLA after transferring from Oklahoma. On Saturday afternoon in Canton, Ohio, he will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
