Wednesday Night's Practice

The two-minute drill at the end of practice provides some fireworks, with Ben Olson making a dramatic play on 4th and 15, and freshman place kicker Kai Forbath perhaps out-doing him by making a 52-yard field goal. Head Coach Karl Dorrell comments about the practice on video...

The newest injury is to fullback Michael Pitre, who has an infected in-grown toenail. It's uncertain how long he'll be out.

Head Coach Karl Dorrell said that inflammation in the knee of receiver Joe Cowan has gone down, which is encouraging, but it will still be another week before they can access the injury and prognosis.

The usual suspects were out with injuries during practice. Dorrell elaborates in his post-practice video interview below.

The practice was conducted in helmets and shorts, and consisted of a great deal of fundamentals and technical work. Easily the most entertaining was the last session, which was a 2-minute drill.

Both Patrick Cowan and Ben Olson looked pretty good. On 4th and 15 from his own 30, Ben Olson threw a TD pass to Bobby Withhorne on a seam over the middle.

On the final series, freshman kicker Kai Forbath hit a 52-yard field goal, that split the uprights (Justin Medlock wasn't at practice because he was doing community service).
