The football team went through a short practice Saturday in shells, before taking the rest of the day off and all of Sunday off to get some fresh legs back before getting into game week practice on Monday. The offense looked good again Saturday, with the passing game getting sharper and improving its timing.

Ben Olson had an even better day Saturday than he did on Friday, throwing accurately and efficiently.

Ryan Moya, the sophomore tight end, again looked good Saturday, catching a number of balls.

Freshman receiver Dominique Johnson went up high and caught a tough pass over the middle with very sure hands to beat cornerback Rodney Van.

Walk-on wide receiver Bobby Whithorne has left the team.

UCLA has sold 39,000 season tickets so far, a week before the first home game. It sold 32,000 totally last season.

No injured players returned to practice today.

Wide receiver coach D.J. McCarthy was a father for a third time, his wife giving birth yesterday to a son.
