Friday Night Lights: Week 3

Here's a look at how UCLA's committed prospects and their top targets in the class of 2007, and its top targets in 2008, did in Week Three of the prep football season...

Crenshaw def. Roosevelt, 47-0
Running back Raymond Carter had his best game of the season in an easy Cougars win. Carter rushed for 126 yards on only 11 carries and scored three touchdowns.

Archbishop Mitty def. Salinas, 31-10
Linebacker Steve Sloan, playing with a cast on his broken right hand, had in Mitty's easy 31-10 win over Salinas. The Monarchs improved to 4-0 on the season.

Verbum Dei def. Manual Arts, 24-0
Playing without defensive end Akeem Ayers, the Eagles got off the winless skid, earning their first victory of the season over Manual Arts. Reggie Dunn, playing quarterback and defensive back, had an interception and a touchdown run for the Eagles.

Buchanan def. Fresno Edison, 38-35 (OT)
The Tigers dropped their second close game in a row, losing to the Bears 38-35 in overtime. Courtney Viney again held his receiver without a catch.

Long Beach Poly def. Mira Mesa, 13-6
Tight end Nate Chandler scored the Marauders lone touchdown, a 10-yard reception from Kevin O'Mary. Donovan Warren scored two touchdowns and rushed for 73 yards on nine carries. Junior running back Ricky Johnson had 189 yards for the Jackrabbits.

Ramona def. St. Augustine, 31-29
Quarterback Chris Forcier (6-3, 188) ran for 37 yards on eight carries and scored a touchdown and threw for 370 yards on 20-of-39 passing and threw two touchdown passes. But he also threw three interceptions and the Saints dropped their first game of the year. Cornerback Larry Parker (5-11, 165) had six catches for 91 yards and scored a touchdown. Next up for St. Augustine is a home contest vs. Crawford.

Dominguez def. Carson, 32-26
The Dons needed overtime to knock off the upstart Colts, winning 32-26 on a Brandon Johnson three-yard run on fourth-and-goal. They had the PAT blocked and held on defense, surviving an incompletion into the end zone by Dominique Blackman. Johnson finished with 127 yards on 20 carries and three touchdowns while Marcus Darden had 11 carries for 136 yards and two touchdowns for the Dons, who moved to 3-0. Blackman was 10-of-18 for 224 yards for Carson, who dropped to 2-1.

Dorsey def. Fairfax, 34-10
Rahim Moore scored on a 44-yard touchdown reception and also added an interception for the Dons in their easy 24-point victory. Dwayne Frampton added two receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown.

Upland def. Redlands East Valley, 47-38
Devin Mahina had seven tackles and three catches while adding a blocked punt in Uplands win over REV. Chris Polk had seven catches for 178 yards (2 TD's, 80 and 13 yards) and rushed for 64 yards on 11 carries and two touchdowns in the loss.

Notre Dame def. Birmingham, 31-12
Shane Horton allowed Notre Dame to stay unbeaten, rushing for 143 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries for the Knights as he stayed at quarterback for the injured Dayne Crist. Milton Knox had 27 carries for 219 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Patriots, who's non-league schedule is as tough as any in the state.

Mission Hills def. San Diego (Calif.) Hoover, 23-12
Todd Doxey had seven receptions for 97 yards, and scored a 33-yard touchdown. He added seven tackles for the Cards in their loss to Mission Hills and elite junior prospect Jamaar Jarrett, who had two sacks and a forced fumble from his defensive end spot.

Temescal Canyon def. Corona Santiago, 28-20
Ryan McCants finished with 211 yards on 22 carries, rushing for 182 in the second half, as the Sharks dropped the contest by eight points. McCants rushed for two touchdowns in the loss.

Scripps Ranch def. Mar Vista, 42-0
Tate Forcier went 10-for-17 passing for 182 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 74 yards on 10 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns, including a 79-yard run in the Falcons easy win.

Other Games of Note
Titus Young scored three touchdowns, one off a pass, one off a punt return (55 yards) and one off a kickoff return (89 yards). He had six catches for 168 yards including the score. Malachi Lewis rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown in Rio Mesa's 26-7 loss to Agoura. Austin Holt had 64 yards receiving in Bingham's 41-7 win over Riverton. Zion Babb rushed for 89 yards on six carries and scored a touchdown while adding four catches for 75 yards in Alhambra's 42-27 victory over Arroyo. Lance Mitchell helped lead Muir to a 15-12 win over Jefferson, staying at quarterback for the Mustangs. Compton got a pair of 100-yard rushing performances, 103 coming from Anthony Wright on 18 carries and 135 coming from junior Donald Green on eight carries as they beat Fremont 18-7.
