Daniels Has Three Leaders

The talented wide receiver from Los Angeles Loyola, Quintin Daniels, comes back from injury, and talks about his recruiting leaders...

Quintin Daniels, 6-0, 180, Los Angeles Loyola, is coming off a frustrating hamstring pull that prevented him from participating in track and Nike camps in Los Angeles and Palo Alto the last few months. But as the summer went on and the injury healed he was able to get back on the field. "I had been working out with the team for a while, and now I am working out on my own," he said.

UCLA was the first school to offer Daniels, but that list has since grown. "I have five offers so far, so I would have to say that those schools are recruiting me the hardest. I have offers from UCLA, Cal, Oregon, Washington and Arizona State." Daniels said out of those schools his favorites are UCLA and Oregon, but adds one other school that has yet to offer. "I would also add Stanford to my favorites list."

Regarding his three favorites, Daniels gave Bruin Report Online a little insight into each school:

Oregon: "They're coming off a very good season. The coach is really straightforward and all the teammates seem to get along together and have great attitudes."

Stanford: "If football didn't work out in my future I certainly have something to fall back on with a Stanford degree. Stanford has a decent record and beats a lot of powerhouses."

UCLA: "I've grown up on that school. I've actually been following them for a long time. The coaches are real cool. It's close to home and comfortable and what I grew up with."

While his final choice will be up to him, Daniels parents have a favorite. "My parents like Stanford." While that may be his parents' favorite Daniels mother, Tana Fleder, wasn't afraid to state her sentiments. "I think every parent would like their child to stay close to home. I would be happy if he stayed close."

She also expressed just how important an education is in choosing a school. "He knows academics is at the top of the priority list when looking at schools. Quintin has been hearing from a number of schools. We receive about 20 pieces of recruiting mail a day."

Daniels already knows where he wants his education to take him. "I'm looking at majoring in sports medicine and possibly business at college."

Daniels plays both wide receiver and free safety. He earned All-State honors on defense as a sophomore. Then as a junior he averaged more than 17 yards a reception as a wide receiver. A number of schools are recruiting him as an athlete. "While all the schools are recruiting me for offense, some are recruiting me for both sides of the ball. All the coaches ask me where I would prefer to play, and I always say offense."

While no official visits have been scheduled two have been offered so far. "UCLA and Cal have offered visits, and I expect all the schools that have offered scholarships to offer visits. Unofficially I've been to UCLA, Cal, Stanford and Oregon."

Daniels is fully qualified.
