Friday Night Lights Preview -- Week 5

Here's a preview of some of the top high school football games this weekend featuring UCLA committed recruits and prospects from the 2007 class, and those from 2008. Committed quarterback Chris Forcier travels north from San Diego for a big game in the O.C....

Here's a look at some of the top games this weekend involving UCLA commits in the class of 2007, remaining targets in the 2007 class and players you can expect them to pursue in the class of 2008.

Game Of The Week:
San Diego (Calif.) St. Augustine vs. Anaheim (Calif.) Servite at 7:30 p.m. at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa.
In a game televised on FSN Prime Ticket, UCLA committed quarterback Chris Forcier faces off against Servite, and's #1-ranked linebacker, Chris Galippo. UCLA baseball fans will also get a look at Servite's quarterback Dan Klein, who has committed to John Savage and the Bruin baseball program. Other key players for St. Augustine include CB/WR Larry Parker and LB Bobby Erskine. For Servite, OL Matt Kalil and Garret Pendergast. Junior D.J. Shoemate is out with a season-ending injury.

San Jose (Calif.) Bellarmine Prep at San Jose (Calif.) Archbishop Mitty at 7:00 p.m.
Led by UCLA-commit Steve Sloan, the Monarchs put their 5-0 record on the line against rival Bellarmine Prep, the alma mater of UCLA's all-time leading receiver Craig Bragg. Sloan, who has been playing with a broken hand the past three weeks, is averaging 12 tackles a game.

Fresno (Calif.) Edison at Sanger (Calif.) at 7:30 p.m.
Courtney Viney, UCLA's committed 4-star cornerback, puts his streak of five games without a completed pass to the test in a County/Metro League contest against Sanger.

Oakland (Calif.) McClymonds at Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw at 7:00 p.m.
The defending OAL Champions visit the defending City Section champions in a matchup of NorCal-SoCal powers. McClymonds is led by 3-star running back Willie Griffin, ranked No. 9 in the state. Crenshaw counters with a pair of UCLA commits, running back Raymond Carter, the #2 running back in the state and defensive tackle Brian Price, one of the elite defensive tackles nationally and a U.S. Army All-American. Also of interest is junior receiver Kemonte Bateman for the Cougars.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Verbum Dei at Playa Del Rey (Calif.) St. Bernard's at 7:00 p.m.
Though the Eagles are still without defensive Akeem Ayers, a UCLA commit, they will feature receiver/defensive back Reggie Dunn in a non-league contest against one of their rivals, St. Bernard's.

Upland (Calif.) at Ontario (Calif.) Colony at 7:00 p.m.
Four-star tight end/defensive end Devin Mahina will key on Colony's four-star safety/running back Omar Bolden in each teams final non-league tuneup.

Compton (Calif.) Dominguez at Compton (Calif.) at 5:00 p.m.
Dominguez is coming in off a surprising loss to Loyola and will meet unbeaten Compton. The Dons are led by RB's Brandon Johnson and Marcus Darden and LB's Maurice Simmons and Marquis Simmons. The Tarbabes are led by S/RB Anthony Wright, WB/CB Mike Evans, DT Porter Hill and LB Lawrence Winston.

Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame at Valencia (Calif.) at 7:00 p.m.
Led by four-star offensive linemen Sam DeMartinis and Charlie Carmichael as well as Bruin safety target Shane Horton, who has been doubling at quarterback, the Knights visit Valencia and 4-star running back Shane Vereen, a Cal commit, and 2008 quarterback Graham Wilbert.

Canyon (Calif.) at Encino (Calif.) Crespi at 7:00 p.m.
Canyon is led by BYU-commit John DiLuigi and quarterback Ben Longshore, who are protected by 2008 recruit A.J. Wallerstein. Crespi counters with four-star linebacker D.J. Holt and 2008 prospect E.J. Woods.

San Diego (Calif.) Hoover at San Diego (Calif.) Mission Bay at 3:00 p.m.
Bruin target Todd Doxey, a receiver/safety prospect, looks to get the Cards' started right in league play when they visit unbeaten Mission Bay.
