Friday Night Lights Preview: Week 6

Here's a preview of some of the biggest high school games tonight featuring UCLA prospects -- and UCLA committed players -- in the 2007 and 2008 classes. Tonight's the annual showdown between Crenshaw and Dorsey, which includes UCLA commits and many prospects...

Here's a look at some of the top games this weekend involving UCLA commits in the class of 2007, remaining targets in the 2007 class and players you can expect them to go after in the class of 2008.

Game Of The Week:
Crenshaw vs. Dorsey at Rancho Cienega Park at 7:00 p.m. This game will feature several UCLA targets, headlined by the Crenshaw committed prospects, Raymond Carter and Brian Price. The Cougars also will display linebacker Terrell Turner and 2008 receiver Kemonte Bateman. The Dons will counter with 2008 prospects Rahim Moore, Johnathan Franklin and John Roberson. It will also signal the return of Dons linebacker Robert Mullins. The Cougars knocked the Dons off twice last year in one of the best rivalries in the City.

San Diego (Calif.) Mira Mesa at San Diego (Calif.) St. Augustine at 7:00 p.m. at Mesa College
The Saints and committed quarterback Chris Forcier will look to get back on track after being shut out by Servite last week. Forcier will be matched up against his future teammate Nate Chandler, who plays defensive end in addition to his tight end duties. The Marauders also will feature receiver Markques Simas, who doubles as a defensive back.

Fresno (Calif.) Edison at Fresno (Calif.) Hoover at 7:30 p.m.
The Tigers have dropped four straight games in the final minutes and look to end that slump. Courtney Viney, UCLA's committed four-star cornerback, puts his streak of six games without a completed pass to the test in a County/Metro League contest against city rival Hoover.

Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft at Van Nuys (Calif.) Birmingham at 7:30 p.m.
The West Valley League season gets started with a matchup of two of the premier teams in the league. Taft, still without star Malcolm Smith will rely on 2008 QB Exavier Johnson, OL Darrion Weems and WR Jeshua Anderson while Birmingham will try and knock off their Valley rivals with 2008 RB Milton Knox and WR Will Chandler.

Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany at Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame at 7:30 p.m.
Led by four-star offensive linemen Sam DeMartinis and Charlie Carmichael as well as Bruin safety target Shane Horton, who has been doubling at quarterback, the Knights host 4-1 Alemany in one of two Serra/Mission League showdowns on Friday night.

Etiwanda (Calif.) at Upland (Calif.) at 7:00 p.m.
Four-star tight end/defensive end Devin Mahina will match up against two-star offensive tackle/defensive end Marcus Austin in the Baseline League opener for both.

West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade at Encino (Calif.) Crespi at 7:00 p.m.
Chaminade is home to safety/receiver Aubrey Smith while Crespi counters with four-star linebacker D.J. Holt and 2008 prospect E.J. Woods in another Serra/Mission League contest.

Fontana (Calif.) Kaiser at Bloomington (Calif.) at 7:00 p.m.
The Cats, led by defensive end Chris Carter, open Sunkist League play with traditional power Bloomington on the road.

San Diego (Calif.) Hoover at San Diego (Calif.) at 7:00 p.m.
Bruin target Todd Doxey, a receiver/safety prospect, will lead the Cards' over city rival San Diego and try to keep them perfect in league play.

Los Angeles (Calif.) University at Palisades (Calif.) at 7:00 p.m.
University receiver/defensive back Titus Young and Pat Sheridan lead the Wildcats into Western League play when they visit Palisades, home to OL Mitchell Schwartz and RB/DB Dajuan Cofield, the brother of Raymond Carter.
