Game Of The Week:
San Jose (Calif.) Archbishop Mitty at San Francisco (Calif.) St. Ignatius at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday The Monarchs, led by UCLA's committed linebacker Steve Sloan visit St. Ignatius, paced by offensive lineman Matt Summers-Gavin and tight end Chris Blohm in a key West Catholic League contest. Mitty is 5-1 but is coming off a loss to Bellarmine Prep. The Wildcats are in first place in the league along with Serra of San Mateo.
Locke vs. Dorsey at Rancho Cienega Park at 7:00 p.m. The Dons, fresh off a big league win over Crenshaw, host Locke, who sits atop the Coliseum League standings. Dorsey has linebacker Robert Mullins back and his presence on a defense with Rahim Moore gives the Dons a stout D. Johnathan Franklin and John Roberson will split the running back duties. Jefferson at Crenshaw at 7:00 p.m. The Cougars look to bounce back when they host Jefferson on Friday. With running back Raymond Carter still coming back from an injury, the Cougars could rely on Curtis Price or receiver Kemonte Bateman. Terrell Turner, Brian Price and Carlton Hudson lead the Cougars defense.
San Diego (Calif.) Cathedral at San Diego (Calif.) Mira Mesa
With a win over St. Augustine a week ago, the Marauders look to win consecutive games for the first time this year when they host Cathedral in a key Eastern League game. Tight end Nate Chandler and receiver Markques Simas are quarterback Kevin O'Mary's favorite targets. San Diego (Calif.) St. Augustine at San Diego (Calif.) Henry at 7:00 p.m.
The Saints try to snap their two-game losing streak when they visit Henry in Chris Forcier's tuneup before he takes on baby brother Tate Forcier in a week.
Fresno (Calif.) Edison at Fresno (Calif.) Bullard at McClane at 7:30 p.m.
The Tigers ended their losing streak with a win over Hoover a week ago and looks to stay in the Metro/County Race when they visit Bullard. Committed cornerback Courtney Viney has yet to give up a reception in seven games.
Van Nuys (Calif.) Birmingham at Reseda (Calif.) Cleveland at 7:30 p.m.
Fresh off a career night, where he ran for over 250 yards, junior running back Milton Knox looks to keep his monster junior year going when the Patriots visit the Cavaliers. Senior two-way threat Willie Chandler also looks to add onto his outstanding final campaign.
Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft at Chatsworth (Calif.) at 7:30 p.m.
With running back/linebacker Malcolm Smith back in the mix, the Toreadors offense hopes to be clicking on all cylinders when they visit Chancellors, who stand atop the West Valley League standings.
Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame at Santa Fe Springs (Calif.) St. Paul at 7:30 p.m.
With a 6-0 record, the Knights hope to stay perfect behind the arms and legs of Shane Horton. Dayne Crist could be back this weekend or next, in the meantime, Horton has been a key reason the Knights have kept their record without a blemish.
Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) at Upland (Calif.) at 7:00 p.m.
The talented Cougar offense, led by the receiving trio of David Roberts, Deon Ford and Vincent Brown visit the Highlanders, paced by defensive end/tight end Devin Mahina in a key Baseline League contest.
Encino (Calif.) Crespi at La Canada (Calif.) St. Francis at 7:00 p.m.
In one of the best positional matchups in the Southland, defensive end D.J. Holt will go up against Washington State's committed tackle Andrew Roxas in a non-league tilt.
Fontana (Calif.) Kaiser at Jurupa Valley (Calif.) at 7:00 p.m.
The Cats and Jaguars are atop the Sunkist League standings but only one will remain in this important contest for the two. Defensive Chris Carter has had a strong senior year and will need to have a big game on both sides of the ball, he also plays tight end, for the Cats.
Los Angeles (Calif.) Verbum Dei at Pasadena (Calif.) La Salle at 7:30 p.m. (Saturday)
The Eagles make their Camino Real League debut against first place La Salle. Reggie Dunn is coming off a four-touchdown contest and cornerback Jonathan Calhoun had three picks in their win over Animo. Akeem Ayers is still out with a finger injury.
Los Angeles (Calif.) University at Los Angeles (Calif.) Fairfax at 7:00 p.m.
University receiver/defensive back Titus Young and Pat Sheridan lead the Wildcats against Fairfax as both teams look to win their first Western League contest.
