Burns Not Qualified

Evan Burns is still not academically qualified to enroll at UCLA and there is a question whether he will be by the beginning of UCLA's fall quarter, according to sources.

Burns, a McDonald's All-American and UCLA's prized recruit, is expected to come into UCLA this fall and make a very big immediate impact.

We had reported two months ago that the 6-7 forward from Los Angeles (Calif.) Fairfax had not yet qualified academically but was taking summer school classes in order to fulfill the NCAA core class requirements. Sources indicate that Burns was enrolled in summer school, but that he might not have fulfilled the requirements he needed to qualify to enroll at UCLA this fall.

Burns has, reportedly, achieved a qualifying SAT score. He did not, though, fulfill the corresponding NCAA core class requirements by his senioir year at Fairfax in order to be eligible to play college basketball. UCLA's fall quarter begins September 23 but it's uncertain whether Burns could gain the core classes and grades he needs to be eligible in time for classes.
