Texas RB Has UCLA in Top Two

Aundre Dean, the 6-0, 185-pound running back prospect from Katy, Texas, gave an early verbal pledge to Texas A&M, but he is reconsidering his decision. Dean took an unofficial visit over the weekend to UCLA, and he talks about his trip and his commitment status...

"I went to UCLA over the weekend, and I really liked it out there," said Texas running back Aundre Dean. "It was a real nice visit. The coaches were real nice to me. I think they have a nice school."

"They have a decent team, and I think they have a chance to be really good. I can tell they want me real bad out there. I am going to have to pray about it."

Dean made an early commitment to the Aggies, and he tells Scout.com what led to his decision.

"They have a great school," he said. "The coaching staff is awesome. They have top-notch athletic facilities. They offered me once my season was over, and I was very excited."

"They made me feel like I was home when I went there to visit. The more offers I started to get, the more my mom wanted me to look around. I didn't want to go out to UCLA at first, but I am glad I did. I am not saying I am de-committed because I still like Texas A&M. It's close to home, and they have a good school."

"I don't think there are any other schools I am going to visit. The more schools I visit, then the more I am going to have to choose from. I feel like I have two really good choices."

When asked a time-frame for a decision Dean replied, "I would like to have a decision reached before the beginning of my senior season, but if that doesn't happen it's not going to be a big deal. I was overwhelmed at first when I made my decision. Now there are a lot of good schools out there."

"I am sure both schools are working hard for me right now. I am going to have to think and pray about it more. I'll know when the right time to make my decision will be."

Dean had an impressive junior season rushing for 2,111 yards with 27 touchdowns. He earned first team All-District, All-State honorable mention and first team All-Greater Houston.

The 6-1, 197-pound tailback is aware of his strengths and what he hopes to improve before his senior season.

"I feel like my strengths are really my power running and quickness. I run really hard, and I am pretty fast," Dean said.

"I would like to improve my strength. You can never be fast enough. I want to improve my quickness so I can hit the holes faster. I want to break more long runs as well."

Dean will attend the Scout.com All-American Combine Sunday, March 25 at Texas Stadium.
