Could Brooks Announce Soon?

UCLA's primary basketball recruiting target, Washington point guard Aaron Brooks, might announce his decision soon. What's the word on the street about what would be his choice?

Aaron Brooks, 5-11 JR PG, Seattle (Wash.) Franklin, might announce his decision tomorrow, according to sources.

It was thought for a while in recruiting circles that Oregon was leading for Brooks, but recent rumors and some inside sources indicate that UCLA has definitely at least drawn even with Oregon.

Sources also said that it's now a two-team race between Oregon and UCLA.

Brooks visited Oregon unofficially a couple of weekends ago. He is planned to visit Oregon officially this weekend, but he might put it off to play in a tournament back east. He visited UCLA officially in spring.

Reportedly, UCLA Head Coach Steve Lavin had an in-home visit with Brooks Monday.

Brooks has kept his leanings over the last several months pretty close to the vest. Most close to the situation were speculating that Oregon was the leader for various reasons, but recently more sources close to the situation have indicated that UCLA was always very strong with Brooks. In fact, the word is that Oregon might have been trailing UCLA and just recently made up ground with Brooks' unofficial visit a couple of weeks ago.
