Dixon Might Make Appearance

Elite quarterback prospect Dennis Dixon might make the trek from Northern California this weekend to watch a former teammate and one of his best friends play. Also, an update on his recruitment...

Dennis Dixon, 6-4, 183, 4.59, San Leandro (Calif.) High, is trying to finalize plans to make his way down the coast to see one of his close buddies play for UCLA – Jarrad Page. "I might be, yeah. I'll be staying with Jarrad. I'm not sure until I talk to a friend again, because he is the one who is driving. As soon as I know from my friend I'll call Jarrad and let him know for sure, so he can tell the coaches that I'm coming."

So when asked if it a visit to see Jarrad or take an unofficial visit to UCLA, he said, "I'm just coming down to see Jarrad. That's about it. I think I'll worry about that (a visit to UCLA) later."

Dixon is playing it very close to the vest as to which five schools out of his final ten will get an official visit. Dixon's final ten are UCLA, USC, Oregon State, ASU, Oregon Washington, Oklahoma, Florida State, Washington State and Colorado. "I'm still looking at the same ten schools, and I'm getting calls from a lot of schools. Right now the schools and the coaches are all about equal," he said.

When will Dixon reveal his final five schools? "Well, I'm trying to set up my visits after the fourth game of the season, but I'm in no rush at all. I still intend to announce on signing day."

Friday night Dixon led San Leandro to a season opening win 38-12. "It was great. I went 12 of 18 for 139 yards and a touchdown." Then over the weekend Dixon spent some time watching college football games. "I watched a couple of games – the Florida State and UCLA games."

Dixon earned All-League and All-Area honors after throwing for 1,715 yards and 22 touchdowns last season. He also participated in this year's Student Sports Elite 11 quarterback camp. He's currently ranked the #7 quarterback in the country.
