Off-Season Team News:
-- Justin Brown, the redshirt sophomore offensive lineman, has left the program. He has asked for his release to possibly transfer, or he could stay at UCLA as just a student.
Getting Brown's scholarship back gives UCLA the NCAA one-year limit of 25 scholarships to give out to the 2008 class. It currently has 18 verbal commitments.
-- Bruce Davis was named to the Watch List for the 2007 Bronko Nagurski Trophy, awarded to the best defensive player in college football.
-- Running back Chris Markey, who missed spring practice due to a foot fracture, is close to being medically cleared to participate in off-season workouts.
-- Jeremy McGee, the redshirt freshman receiver/cornerback, transferred to Ole Miss. McGee's mother passed away last year and he believed the move closer to his family in Louisiana would be beneficial.
-- Junior running back Derrick Williams ended his career after suffering too many concussions. He sat out spring practice with a concussion and it was determined shortly thereafter that Williams would need to end his career. He remains in school at UCLA.
-- UCLA's spring practice ended Friday, April 27th, culminating with the final Spring Scrimmage. (Report on Spring Game). The day before the spring game, Head Coach Karl Dorrell named Ben Olson the starting quarterback (Dorrell Names Olson).

-- The team has been conducting its off-season workouts, without coaches, since the end of practice.
-- Fall camp will begin in August. UCLA Media Day is August 6th, with its first practice that afternoon, and UCLA's first non-pad practice should be Thursday, August 9th. Fall camp will proceed, along with two-a-day practices, through the end of August, and practices will be open to the public. Game week practice will start August 27th and be closed from then on.
-- The UCLA football coaching staff went through the spring evaluation period April 15th to May 31st, when college coaches can watch high school prospects at their high school or at combines (There are a certain amount of times each prospect can bee seen).
-- UCLA conducted it's One-Day Camp for high school football players and prospects June 9th on Spaulding Field. Here's the write-up from the camp: 1-Day Camp: UCLA Recruits Look Good
UCLA received three commitments as a result of the camp, from Fullerton Troy fullback Derrick Coleman, Palmdale OL Connor Bradford, and Mission Viejo OL Jeff Baca.
