Thompson, who is ranked the #17 player in the nation for the class of 2009, is on campus with his mom, meeting with UCLA Head Coach Ben Howland and his assistant coaches.
Thompson really improved his stock this spring and summer, going from someone virtually unknown outside of the west to a top 20 national prospect getting seriously recruited by the likes of UCLA, Duke, North Carolina and Georgetown.
Thompson attended UCLA's Camp in early July, where he performed very well in front of Howland. Howland his staff then spent a great deal of time watching him the rest of July during the evaluation period.
The word is that Duke has made Thompson a top priority for the class of 2009.
It will be interesting to see if UCLA offers Thompson a scholarship today while he's on campus.
As of right now, UCLA's other big targets for the 2009 class are David Wear and Travis Wear, the 6-9 twins from Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, and Reeves Nelson, the 6-7 forward from Modesto (Calif.) Christian.
UCLA currently has four scholarships to give to the class of 2009, but will more than likely have 5 to 6, depending on players who could leave early for the pros or transfer.
