Football Notes and News From Friday

A starting offensive lineman is limited in practice due to an injury he suffered Thursday, another running back is injured and in a red, no-hit jersey, and we have the general lowdown on the situation with freshman defensive tackle Brian Price, who is trying to get his eligibility cleared through the NCAA...

-- Head Coach Karl Dorrell met with wide receivers Eric Scott today before practice. Scott, though, remains on administrative leave.

-- Shannon Tevaga, the starting offensive guard, apparently injured his shoulder Thursday and had limited reps Thursday.

-- Running back Ryen Carew also had an injured shoulder and wore a red, no-hit jersey and didn't participate in the scrimmages Thursday.

-- Good sources are telling us that the situation for defensive tackle Brian Price and his NCAA eligibility is a complicated one. Apparently, there were many problems with the paperwork sent in under Price's behalf, from Crenshaw, the Prices and another technical school that Price received credits from. Much of the paperwork didn't get to the NCAA Clearing House in time, was incomplete or filled out incorrectly.

It's very much uncertain if Price will be deemed eligible by the Clearing House, according to sources.

Attending practice today was Kevan Walker, the son of UCLA Defensive Coordinator DeWayne Walker. It's believed that Walker, who is verbally committed to Minnesota, will eventually change his allegiance to UCLA.

Two committed recruits -- cornerback Aaron Hester from Compton Dominguez and cornerback Anthony Dye from Corona Santiago -- also attended practice. Also in attendance was linebacker/fullback Todd Golper, a teammate of Walker's at Arcadia, and a potentially elite prospect in the class of 2009.
