Okwo is a two-time Bay League MVP and All-State Underclass honoree. He gained 1,724 yards on 273 carries for 18 touchdowns as a running back and totaled over 100 tackles on defense as a junior. With great lateral quickness and loving to hit, Okwo is playing on both sides of the ball again this season, and once again he is the starting running back. "I'm averaging about 150 (yards) a game so far this year."
Okwo told us about the schools he's concentrating on now. "My top five schools are USC, UCLA, Stanford, Oregon and Boston College," he said. "USC, UCLA and Stanford have offered. Right now I am hearing from USC the most. I've read on different places that at one time Stanford was my leader or USC, but really I don't have a favorite right now." All of his favorites are recruiting him as a linebacker. When considering schools he said there are some factors that will play in his decision. "I'm just looking for a school that will give me the best opportunity after football is over to start a career and has good alumni support."
While Okwo intends to take all his visits before making a decision, he doesn't expect to wait until signing day to decide. "I'll be visiting all five schools, some officially and some maybe unofficially, and hopefully I'll make my decision in January."
An outstanding student, Okwo is carrying a 3.4 GPA and scored a 1210 on the SAT.
While many players spend the summer attending camps, Okwo spent part of his traveling across the Atlantic Ocean. "I went to Nigeria and England. I have family in both countries. It was a great trip."
