While the Spartans are a few years removed from their national record setting win streak, they are still the premier team in Northern California, and this year is no different. They travel down to the O.C. tomorrow night to face Mission Viejo, who beat them a year ago. The Spartans are led by quarterback Mike McGillivray and his backup Nate Montana, Joe's son. Kylan Butler, the Spartans running back, is a Maurice Drew clone, right down to the size and the number. Defensively, Brady Amack leads the Spartans. The Diablos are paced by elite 2009 quarterback Allan Bridgford, Stanford bound receiver Warren Reuland and UCLA commit Jeff Baca on the offensive line. Mission Viejo had a bye last weekend after dropping a non-league game against Vista.
Los Osos at Colton
The Yellowjackets, led by UCLA commit Damien Holmes and BYU commit Daniel Sorenson, have dropped a pair of heartbreakers, but got back on the winning side last weekend against Huntington Beach Marina. This weekend, the stout Colton defense will face 2009 quarterback target Richard Brehaut, who leads the 3-1 Grizzlies in their final non-league test.
Long Beach Wilson at Compton
The Tarbabes look to remain unbeaten on the season, and they face a reeling Bruins squad who hasn't won since the opener. Donald Green, Compton's running back has been a scoring machine while Datone Jones, a UCLA commit has been solid throughout the season for a stingy Compton defense. Wilson is led by 2009 recruit Jemari Roberts, one of the most dangerous playmakers in his class.
Loyola at Hart
With St. Bonaventure losing to Crespi a week ago, the Indians are now the top ranked team in the Northern Division of CIF. Led by Stanford commit Delano Howell and UCLA-bound linebacker Patrick Larimore, Hart has rarely been tested. The Cubs are showing signs of improvement, keeping their game against Dominguez a week ago, closer than expected.
Dorsey at Hamilton
The Dons final game before Coliseum League play takes them across town to Hamilton for a non-league tilt. Johnathan Franklin has been stellar all year at running back, and Rahim Moore said he expects to be involved more in the Dons passing game this week.
