Van Nuys (Calif.) Birmingham running back Milton Knox (5-8, 200) committed to hometown UCLA in June, but on Thursday, he picked up an offer he had been somewhat hoping would come in.

"I got an offer from Florida this morning," said Knox. "Urban Meyer himself offered me."

Knox had been listing Florida as a school of interest for some time and he has a connection to the Gator program.

Florida Director of Football Operations Troy Starr is very aware of Knox, having coached against Knox and Birmingham when Starr was at the Patriots' rival school, Taft HS of Woodland Hills.

"I may take a visit there soon and to Colorado," said Knox.

So is Knox thinking about switching his commitment?

"Nah, just if the coaching staff is not there (at UCLA) anymore, I just want to have a backup plan, that's all."

Earlier this season Knox became the CIF-City Section alltime leading rusher and touchdown scorer. Through nine games, Knox leads the Patriots with 1,226 yards and 23 touchdowns, despite playing in the second half of only a handful of games.
