"It was good and it was cool getting to know Coach (Jim) Harbaugh," said Martin. "I liked seeing how things were going there at Stanford. It was cool meeting Tavita Pritchard, after seeing him on television after he beat USC."
Martin said the Stanford staff briefed him on the status of his application. "They said I should know by January 1st, so it's going to be real exciting for me over Christmas," said Martin. "They said that I made a quality application. They said a lot of guys blow it off, but I put the time and effort into it. Stanford is far and away my number one school, but I still want to test the waters somewhat."
California has recently gotten involved with Martin and the one-time commit to UCLA said the Bruins are still in the mix. "I want to take my official visit to Cal and maybe to UCLA," said Martin. "I was going to go this weekend (to Cal), but I have some tests to study for so I'll probably go in January. With UCLA, definitely the guy that they hire is going to have an impact on if they're still involved. It would be great if they promoted Coach (DeWayne) Walker, though."
Martin's parents are both Harvard grads, so naturally, the academic focus was important to them. "My parents were really big on academics so they were asking the questions about the academics," said Martin.
With his season over with, and only the decision from Stanford in the air, Martin said he's just focusing on his academics through the holidays and will make his decision in January.
