Van Nuys (Calif.) Birmingham running back Milton Knox, who had softened on his verbal commitment before the hiring of Rick Neuheisel as UCLA's head coach, said he's looking forward to talking to the new head coach.

"I have heard he is a cool guy, but I want to meet him first and see how he wants to use me," said Knox.

Knox committed to UCLA in July, but he said a big reason for his commitment was Karl Dorrell, the former head coach. Since Dorrell was fired, though, Knox has taken an official visit to Florida, after being offered by them, and is taking a visit next month to Notre Dame.

"Man, the Florida visit was real cool, I really liked it," said Knox. "I'm going to Notre Dame next month so I'll see what's up."

Knox was also hearing from Colorado, and the Buffs were talking about a visit for him, but he said the contact between the two has cooled. "I haven't heard from Colorado in a while," said Knox.

Still, Knox said he's a commit to the Bruins and he's anxious to talk with Neuheisel. "I'm not going to take an official visit to UCLA, but I do want to go up there and meet with Coach Neuheisel and get a feel for him," said Knox. "I want to see how he uses the running backs and how I would fit in."

And Knox said he's also interested in seeing the coaches that remain on staff. "I hope Coach (Dino) Babers, Coach (DeWayne) Walker and E-Scott (Eric Scott) are back because I really have a good relationship with them and it's all about relationships," said Knox. "That's why I want to get up to UCLA real soon to find out their status."
