Two Early Leaders for Lamb

Tyler Lamb, 6-4 SO SG/PG Ontario (Calif.) Colony, is one of the elite prospects in the country for 2010. Lamb has shown considerable improvement in his game over the last year and he's currently the top-rated West Coast guard for 2010.

I spoke with Lamb recently and asked about the programs expressing interest in him.

"UCLA, USC, Georgetown, Memphis, Louisville, Indiana, Washington – there's a bunch of them," said Lamb. "I'm really open right now."

When asked if any schools stand out from the pack, Lamb replied, "UCLA – I like them a lot. And Georgetown."

Lamb said his family has a couple of preferences.

"My parents want me to stay close to home – for them it's UCLA," said Lamb. "And I have relatives in the North Carolina area that are telling me North Carolina.

I asked Lamb about the issues that will be important to him when making his choice.

"Location is not a big deal – with the AAU travel, you get used to being away," said Lamb. "I like a school that runs and the coach lets you play your game. But I also want to play in a style that will help me get to the next level.

Lamb said one program has already offered.

"USC told me anytime I'm ready to end the recruiting process to call them," said Lamb.

I asked Lamb if he has a timeframe for picking a school.

"If the right college offers, I'll commit," said Lamb. "I'm enjoying the process so far, but if the right offer is there, I could commit early."

Lamb has improved his body considerably in the past year, looking leaner than he did in July. He's quicker and more explosive as a result. I asked him about the transformation.

"Yeah, I've been working on my body a lot," said Lamb. "I'm eating right and trying to improve my quickness and jumping."

Lamb said he has a 3.0 GPA.
