VIDEO: Neuheisel on Monday Practice

Head Coach Rick Neuheisel talked after practice Monday about the strides of the offense, what will have to happen for the team to improve, more of his opinion of Friday's scrimmage, and more...

The team practiced in just shorts, shoulder pads and helmets Monday.

There was a clear improvement in the quarterbacks generally getting rid of the ball quicker. They didn't necessarily complete more passes, but they definitely didn't hold the ball nearly as long as they have been. Ben Olson had a better day than the guy who looks to have won the starting job, Patrick Cowan (Cowan works with the ones almost entirely). Olson completed more passes than Cowan on the day.

Receiver Dominique Johnson had a couple of touchdowns, pulling both down over the top of cornerback Alterraun Verner. Both touchdowns were thrown by Cowan, and he also threw another to Gavin Ketchum on a post. Cowan did throw an interception to safety Bret Lockett.

Quarterback Kevin Craft didn't have a very good day, throwing three picks -- to Michael Norris , Glenn Love and Courtney Viney.

OL prospect Caylin Hauptmann from Beverly Hills was the most notable recruit attending practice Monday. Chris Coyle, the linebacker from Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian, also attended.
