Price Continues Bruin Legacy

UCLA picked up their second commitment from La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat and their fifth from the class of 2009 on Saturday night and it comes from a Bruin legacy...

UCLA's recruiting class for 2009 grew on Saturday when they received a commitment from La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat cornerback Sheldon Price.

The 6-1, 165-pounder, fresh off Defensive Back MVP honors at the Los Angeles Nike Camp was offered by the Bruins on Saturday and committed to UCLA.

"Yes, it's true," said his father, Dennis, a former UCLA and NFL defensive back. "I am proud and he is (excited)."

Price's mother and grandfather both also attended UCLA, so Price is a third generation Bruin.

"You could say that (it's my dream school)," said Price.

In 2007, Price was a First Team all-Serra League pick, a Second Team all-San Gabriel Valley selection and was named Team Back of the Year. He had 32 tackles, 19 breakups and three interceptions in 2007.

He joins Lancer teammate Isaiah Bowens in the Bruins' 2009 recruiting class, and is the third defensive back to commit to UCLA, joining cornerback Marlon Pollard and safety Alex Mascarenas. Each of UCLA's commitments is on the defensive side of the ball.
