UCLA Offers Juco Offensive Lineman

Diablo Valley (Calif.) College offensive lineman Donovan Edwards, who took an unofficial visit to UCLA last weekend for their Spring Game, had an even better conversation with the coaching staff over the weekend.

"I talked to Coach (Bob) Palcic on Friday and he told me that UCLA wanted to offer me, but they just wanted to make sure my transcripts all checked out and I would be ok with admissions," said Edwards. "Today, I talked with Coach (Rick) Neuheisel and he said UCLA was going to be officially offering me a scholarship."

For Edwards, it's his first offer, but he may not be done.

"Florida is coming by this next week, and USC came by last week," said Edwards. "I'm hoping to see where I stand and see what all of my options are before I decide."

Edwards said he could be making a return trip to UCLA this coming weekend.

"Coach Neuheisel said that they want me to tell them on Monday and want me to come in this weekend for an official visit," said Edwards.

A 2007 graduate of Pinole Valley HS, Edwards played his true freshman season at Diablo Valley College. A full qualifier out of high school, should Edwards sign with a I-A school, he would have four years to complete his three seasons.
