Lane Making the Pac-10 Rounds

Brendan Lane, a 6-9, elite junior post from Sacramento, Calif., the #67 prospect in Scout.com's national class of 2009, has most of the Pac-10 recruiting him. The talented junior has a hectic schedule lined up in the next couple months...

Brendan Lane, 6-9 SR PF Rocklin (Calif.) High, is one of the elite post prospects in the west for 2009.

I spoke with Lane last night and he gave me an update on his recruitment.

"I went down to UCLA for an unofficial visit on Tuesday," said Lane. "It went well – I liked it a lot. It's a really nice campus and I like the staff a lot."

Lane said he's been to Cal and Stanford during the season when he went to watch each team play.

"I also went to Arizona State back in October," said Lane. "The other school that has been showing a lot of interest lately is Oregon."

Lane said Cal, Stanford, ASU, UCLA and Oregon have all extended scholarship offers.

I asked Lane if he would take any more unofficial visits.

"Probably not – I've seen most of them now," said Lane. "My schedule is going to be so busy that I probably won't have time for any more unofficials. I'll play through the summer and then take official visits in the fall."

Lane injured his left ankle last month, but he said he just started playing again on Monday. His schedule over the next couple months will indeed be busy.

"I'm playing with the Adidas Nation 2009 team in Portland this weekend and the following week I'm going to China with the Adidas Nation 2008 team," said Lane. "In June I'll be doing some stuff with my high school team, but then I'm going to Africa with the Adidas Nation 2009 team. We'll be going to Senegal and Mali for a week."

I asked Lane if he has a leader at this point.

"No, I don't really have a leader right now," said Lane.

An excellent student, Lane previously told me he had a GPA around 3.8.
