Could UCLA Be Getting a Transfer?

UCLA, in need of offensive lineman, could be landing a much-needed boost in the trenches with a potential transfer from a Big 12 school...

Scout.com has learned Friday that Kai Maiava will transfer from Colorado to UCLA. The former offensive lineman from Baldwin High School on the island of Maui - who earned Scout.com first-team Freshman All-American honors at OL at CU in 2007, was asked to move to fullback for spring football.

In a conversation with Buffao Sports News, Maiava cited personal and family reasons for the move to a school in California. He asked for, and was granted his release by Colorado after losing weight to play fullback but ended up third on the CU depth by the end of spring.

Because Maiava played as a true freshman, he will use this transfer year as a redshirt, thus having three years to play three starting the fall of 2009.
