UCLA Football Recruiting Tidbits

Here are some of the latest tidbits concerning UCLA football recruiting and UCLA recruits in the last week or so, including a review of the Scout.com/UnderArmour Phoenix Combine, a Hawaiian running back visiting UCLA, and more...

-- UCLA is on the list of 6-0, 179-pound linebacker/safety Desmond Brown, from Rome (Georg.) Model.

Brown recently told Scout.com that he received a scholarship offer from Arkansas, and he also likes Georgia, Alabama, LSU, USC, UCLA and South Carolina as schools at the top of his current list.

-- UCLA defensive tackle prospect Will Sutton, the 6-1, 255-pounder from Corona (Calif.) Centennial, added his second scholarship offer this week, from Nebraska.

The Huskers join UNLV in offering Sutton.

"(Other) schools showing interest are UCLA, USC, ASU, OSU, Oregon, Arizona, San Diego State, Fresno State, Boise State, and Utah," said his father.

-- The #1 defensive end prospect in the nation, Devon Kennard, from Phoenix (Ariz.) Desert Vista, is getting recruited hard by USC. Kennard, who has over 30 scholarship offers, said the entire Pac-10 is recruiting him aggressively, along with Michigan and Notre Dame.

-- UCLA has shown some interest in 5-11, 193-pound running back Dalton Hilliard, from Honolulu (Haw.) Punahou.

Hilliard said his favorites are Stanford, UCLA, California, Colorado, Nebraska and Notre Dame. All of them have offered except the Bruins and Bears. Utah, Arizona, UNLV and Army have also offered.

Hilliard says he recently visited UCLA. "The coaches at UCLA are all really gracious and helpful people," he said. "I got to spend some time with (assistant) coach Mike Rutenberg and he was really cool. They are really excited and upbeat about this season. I love the campus at UCLA. It's very nice," he said.

-- San Jose (Calif.) Bellarmine Prep linebacker Michael Clay, a four-star weakside backer who UCLA has shown interest, picked up his fourth offer over the weekend and third from the Pac-10 when Washington offered him.

The Huskies join Washington State, California and New Mexico in offering Clay.
