One Prince Exits, Another Enters UCLA

While UCLA saw Luc Richard Mbah a Moute leave Westwood on Monday, this weekend, another Prince will come in, Encino (Calif.) Crespi quarterback Kevin Prince...

The whirlwind year for Encino (Calif.) Crespi quarterback Kevin Prince finally settled down this week.

"Coach (Norm) Chow called me Monday to tell me I'm moving in on Sunday with the rest of the class," said Prince.

The former UCLA football ballboy was offered by the Bruins under former coach Karl Dorrell, before choosing Washington.

Mixed in there was a season ending ACL injury in the Celts' season opener and Prince wasn't sure when he'd play again.

When Rick Neuheisel and Norm Chow came on board, they swayed Prince back to Westwood with the expectation he'd greyshirt.

But when Ben Olson and Pat Cowan suffered injuries in the spring, Cowan a season-ender, the UCLA coaching staff saw the need to get Prince in early and the wheels got turning to make it happen.

And Monday, Prince got the word that he'd be enrolling in-time to compete for a spot on the depth chart this fall.

"I'm extremely excited," said Prince. "It is a big relief." With Prince enrolling, UCLA will have two true freshman on the roster at quarterback in him and Nick Crissman, redshirt freshman Chris Forcier, juniors Osaar Rasshan and Kevin Craft and Olson.
