B2G Elite Program Preview: Defense

Paced by the nation's top cornerback and middle linebacker and the West's top two safeties, including UCLA commit Byron Moore, here is a look at the defensive side of the ball for this year's B2G Elite Football Program, which starts this weekend...

The ninth year of the B2G Elite Football Program begins tomorrow in Thousand Oaks, and the defensive prospects set to come include the top cornerback and middle linebacker in the country and the top safety in the West. The defensive side of the ball is loaded with talent and will be deep.

The linebackers are led by Vontaze Burfict, the nation's top middle backer. The Corona Centennial star will be coming midway through camp after helping the Huskies in a passing tourney and will be joined by Centennial teammate Tony Whitlow. Todd Golper, the #2 middle linebacker in the West is expected to come later in the weekend.

USC commit Chris Metcalf from Compton will be working with both the linebackers and the safeties this weekend.

A pair of Serra League rivals, Ace Ward from Sherman Oaks Notre Dame and Khalil Bass from Encino Crepsi will be on hand along with Oaks Christian of Westlake Village's Chris Connely and 2010 prospects Lucky Radley from Encino Crespi and Cameron Roberson from Newbury Park.

The best position battle will come at safety, where the top two safeties in the West, T.J. McDonald from Fresno Edison and Byron Moore from Harbor City Narbonne, will continue to work alongside each other while battling for the top spot McDonald has a hold on. The two looked stellar together earlier this week at the USC camp.

But those wont be the only two top safety prospects. Chris Washington, one of Utah's top defenders, will look to continue a great camp season that started at Scout's Badger/New Level Pass Camp. Nate Fellner from Clovis West will be one of the two Fresno native's not from Edison, joining Marte Sears from McClane, in representing the Valley.

Tevin McDonald is one of the top safety prospects in the class of 2010, and T.J.'s younger brother is looking to pick up where he left off at the UnderArmour/Scout Combine in Los Angeles

The cornerback spot will be led by the nation's premier corner prospect, Cliff Harris from Fresno Edison. Last summer, Harris was one of the stars of the camp, turned it into a big junior season and his firmly entrenched himself as the top cover corner nationally.

The two Sean's from Corona Santiago, Sean Martin and Sean Murray, will be on hand looking to replicate the success of their teammate Anthony Dye from a year ago.

Raashad Reynolds from San Fernando, who also plays quarterback, and Chris Brown from Newbury Park, also a running back, will both work with the cornerbacks during the weekend. Xavier Ellis, who we liked at the Oakland UnderArmour/Scout Combine earlier this month, is one of the NorCal natives we'll see.

Maryland native Austin Lewis will be one of the out-of-staters to watch.

Scout.com will provide exclusive coverage the first three days of B2G and the camp, which runs from June 26-29, culminates on Sunday, the 29th with the A-Game.
