Virginia DE Sets Visits

Noah Sutherland, the defensive end from Virginia Beach, Virginia, has set up three of his official visits. He'll be making his first trip ever out west...

Noah Sutherland, 6-5, 240, 4.7, Virginia Beach (Virg.) Kellam, has set up three of his official visits. His first one will allow UCLA the opportunity to make a great impression, as he has never been to the west coast.

When asked who is recruiting him the hardest, Sutherland said, "East Carolina, Indiana, UCLA and Stanford." Sutherland said that UCLA's coach Don Johnson has been calling him regularly.

All of the schools have offered, except Stanford. "They are processing my application, and I think after that they will offer."

As far as official visits, Sutherland has dates set with three schools. "I am going to go to UCLA on December 6, Indiana on December 13 and it looks like Stanford on January 10. East Carolina, I'm still working on that one."

Sutherland said his mom will accompany him on his visits to help him sort it all out. And he said he wants to take all of his visits before making a decision. "I have never been to California, and I'm looking forward to it," he said. "I've never been farther west than Ohio."

The last time BRO talked with Sutherland he said ECU was his favorite. When asked if they still were, Sutherland said, "I guess they still are especially since I haven't seen any of the other schools. But I like them all obviously."

Sutherland plays both ways as a defensive end and offensive tackle. If he continues to grow in both strength and size he may well end up as a tackle on either side. "Most schools want me for defense, which I prefer. But I don't care if I play offense as long as I get to play." He was not too sure of his stats this season, but as a junior he had 70 tackles and five sacks.

He is a solid student with a 3.2 GPA and an 1,140 on the SAT.
