Danser Stays Open-Minded

Kevin Danser, the 6-foot-5, 290-pound three-star offensive lineman from Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose, Calif., has picked up an offer from Harvard to go along with scholarships from Arizona and Washington.

"I don't really have a top five," Danser insisted. "I'm going to go into my senior year open-minded and just take it one step at a time. Right now I'm not even thinking about recruiting. I don't have a timetable or anything. We'll just see what happens."

Danser, ranked as the No. 60 offensive tackle in the country by Scout.com, attended camps at California and UCLA last month and doesn't have any others scheduled.

"Both camps were real nice," Danser said. "I enjoyed my time at both schools.

"I really like (Cal offensive line) coach Jim Michalczik," he said. "He's a great guy and I learned a lot. He told me they want to see me play during my senior season before they offer. UCLA pretty much said the same thing.

"UCLA is a great place and I like the campus a lot," he said. "All the coaches there were great and they seemed like a good group of guys. UCLA just has so many things going for it, it's hard not to like them. I'm curious to see how they do next season."

The Bears and Bruins are the only two programs that Danser has already visited, but he plans on visiting both Arizona and Washington later this summer.

"I'm actually going to Arizona next week," he said. "I think they should do pretty well this season. They seem like they are making all the right moves and it seems like they'll be winning a lot more.

"Arizona has some really good coaches that seem very upbeat about this coming season," Danser said.

"Washington is in a similar situation to Arizona actually," he said. "They are also an up-and-coming team and I think they'll be able to get things back on track.

"I like how hard and physical Washington plays every game and how they never give up," Danser said. "It'll be good to see how they respond this season."

Danser says he's receiving letters from most of the Pac-10 schools, including Oregon, Oregon State and Washington. He's also getting interest from Colorado and Northwestern.

He reports a 3.6 core GPA and a 1600 SAT.
