There is no way around recognizing that USC is clearly recruiting well in the state of California so far for the class of 2009.

UCLA has made a dent, though, with its already-committed players moving up our most recent list and the Bruins involved with many more.

Nevada is quickly becoming one of the more fertile recruiting grounds out West, and the defensive side of the ball is where the stars are at in the class of 2009.

Led by defensive ends Keenan Graham, the state's top prospect from Silverado HS in Las Vegas, and Justin Chaisson, the Oklahoma commit from state champion Bishop Gorman, pass rushing is the specialty in Nevada.

The most versatile player in the state, though, is Kyle Van Noy, from McQueen HS in Reno, who has offers for both offense and defense.
