-- Rod Leisle was practicing with the first team defense and reportedly was feeling close to 100%.
-- Wide receiver Ryan Smith is out and will undergo an operation on his foot this Wednesday.
-- Tab Perry is doubtful for Saturday with a high ankle sprain and did not practice today.
-- C.J. Niusulu is out for the remainder of the season, recovering from an appendectomy.
Nine Bruins made the Pac-10 first- and second-teams, it was announced today.
The first team defense was in good form today, looking aggressive and quick. The first team offense was a bit sporadic, with quarterbacks Drew Olson and Matt Moore showing some inconsistency in their throws. Running backs Tyler Ebell and Manuel White looked sharp, as did the wide receivers, including Junior Taylor, who will see his first career start on Saturday in place of the injured Tab Perry.
Washington State Coach Mike Price said that the Cougars quarterback Jason Gesser is "50-50" for Saturday. He also said that, even if he knew whether he was going to start Gesser before Saturday, he won't announce it until game time. When asked if he was doing that to keep UCLA guessing, Price said. "Yeah. Why not?"
When asked what he would do if he could keep rival Washington out of the Rose Bowl by losing a game, Price said jokingly that he'd "tank it." Price said he was going to call UCLA Head Coach Bob Toledo and suggest he do the same.
We'll have Bob Toledo's comments from his press conference soon...
