Jonathan Hollins (6-3, 280), from Santa Clarita (Calif.) College of the Canyons, verbally committed during the spring to Texas Tech, the school he originally signed with out of high school.

But recently the defensive tackle told the Red Raiders coaches he is opening things back up.

"Things just started coming on pretty fast with offers and stuff," Hollins admitted to JCFootball.com on Friday morning. "Basically, I just want to make sure I'm committing to the right school with the best situation for me and what I'm looking for.

Texas Tech is definitely still up there for me and they are a school I'm considering, but when schools like Tennessee (offer), UCLA (offer), Kansas State (offer), Arizona (offer), LSU and Oklahoma come after you, I think you need to make sure you listen to what they have to say."

Hollins doesn't have offers from the Tigers or the Sooners, but he said he could be close on one of them.

"I just sent my transcripts to LSU last week, so after they get a look at them, I think I have a good shot at getting an offer because of what their coaches have told me," Hollins said.

Hollins has been moved inside by Canyons this year and, while he's still had some success, he said he's missing the outside.

"They have me at nose tackle right now," Hollins said. "It's tough because you get doubled-up all the time, but I still have 10 solo tackles and three sacks. My goal is to break the record for the season for a nose tackle."

Hollins is still on pace to graduate in December, so he said he'll be setting up his official visits in the next few weeks.

Wherever he ends up, Hollins will have three years to play two once he steps on campus.
