"I'm mainly focusing on the California schools right now," said Hasiak. "Right now, I have Cal and UCLA above USC. Cal and UCLA are pretty even and USC is right after them."
Rounding out Hasiak's top five is Oregon State and Washington, though Hasiak said that, with the coaching situation at Washington up in the air, the Huskies are running fifth.
This weekend, Hasiak will be in California, taking his first official visit. "I have a visit this weekend," said Hasiak. "I'm going to see UCLA and Stanford play and I want to see what the official visit is like. I'm really looking forward to it because it's my first trip and I have a lot of interest in UCLA. I'm looking forward to all of my visits because I can get a good impression of the schools I'm interested in."
After the weekend, Hasiak said he will look to set up trips with Cal and USC, though he's uncertain when those visits will take place. "I'm planning on setting up some other visits, but some of the schools have other plans for when they want me to come in so I'll see what they say before I schedule them," said Hasiak.
Hasiak was selected to the UnderArmour All-America Game in Orlando in January, and he's hoping to have a decision made by then, but if he needs to take more visits, he won't hesitate to do them after the game and decide later.
"I'm pretty excited about getting selected to the UnderArmour game," said Hasiak. "It's an honor for me."
Hasiak said while he's been in contact with a number of schools, the ones he most regularly talks with are the three schools he's favoring.
He said: "Coach (Tosh) Lupoi from Cal is recruiting me, and Coach (Norm) Chow is recruiting me for UCLA. From USC, it changes between Coach (Pat) Ruel and Coach Sark (Steve Sarkisian). But those schools are recruiting me the hardest."
