Here is a look at games involving UCLA commits and recruits in Week Seven of the prep football season.
Game of the Week: Upland at Los Osos on FSN Prime Ticket at 7:30
The Baseline League title could be at stake when longtime friends Richard Brehaut, the UCLA committed quarterback, and Josh Nunes, the Stanford verbal, lead Los Osos and Upland against each other in this regionally televised game. Brehaut has beaten Nunes all three times they've played in high school, but the stakes are the highest in this one. Nunes has led Upland to an unbeaten 6-0 while Brehaut and Los Osos are 5-1. The winner here remains on top in the Baseline League.
West Hills Chaminade at La Puente Bishop Amat
The Lancers face their final non-league test before they begin Serra League play next week, and with linebacker Isaiah Bowens, a UCLA commit, back in the lineup, their already stingy defense, which also boasts UCLA commit Sheldon Price, is that much stronger. They face a struggling Chaminade, who's had a rough go of it offensively since quarterback Ryan Griffin left for Tulane.
Muir at Arcadia
With two games under his belt after missing a few with a foot injury, UCLA commit Todd Golper leads the Apaches at home against Muir in a game that the Apaches are looking for payback on Muir. Both teams are unbeaten in league play, and the winner stays atop the Pacific League.
Mission Viejo at Aliso Niguel
Mission Viejo looks to get back on the winning side of things after their blowout loss to Tesoro a week ago. UCLA commit Alex Mascarenas was the lone bright spot for the Diablos in that game. This week, they go on the road to face winless Aliso Niguel.
Riverside Poly at Corona Centennial
Poly goes on the road to visit the top-ranked Huskies from Centennial. The Huskies are led by UCLA commit Ricky Marvray at receiver and recruit Will Sutton at defensive tackle, as well as the top middle linebacker in the nation in Vontaze Burfict, a USC commit. Nebraska commit Taylor Martinez leads the Huskies offense at quarterback, and UCLA recruit Arthur Burns is carrying the load in the backfield.
Visalia El Diamante at Hanford West
El Diamante, which features the vaunted running game paced by senior back Stefphon Jefferson and UCLA commit Greg Capella in the trenches, looks to move back into a first place tie in the West Yosemite League when they face cellar-dwelling Hanford West.
Pomona Diamond Ranch at La Verne Bonita
Led by newest UCLA commit Brandon Sermons in the secondary, Diamond Ranch is looking for their first league win when they visit first-place Bonita in a Miramonte League showdown.
Kapolei vs. Honolulu Farrington
One of the best match-ups on the Islands features UCLA commit Stan Hasiak on the offensive line for Kapolei against elite 2010 defensive end V.J. Fehoko, a prospect with a UCLA offer among his 10 offers. Kapolei needs a win for playoff consideration.
La Canada St. Francis at Encino Crespi
There will be talent on both sides of the ball as the youthful Celts of Crespi take on St. Francis, who features one of the elite 2010 prospects around, two-way threat Dietrich Riley, a recipient of an offer from UCLA, and quarterback Justin Sciarra, the son of former UCLA quarterback John Sciarra. Crespi counters with 2009 receiver prospect Kevin Cummings and 2010 studs Bryan Bennett at quarterback, Hroniss Grasu at defensive end and guard, Ben Loth, on the offensive line and receiver Blake Stanton.
