Here is a look at games involving UCLA commits and recruits in Week Eight of the prep football season.
Game of the Week: Corona Centennial vs. Riverside North
A matchup of two defending CIF champions takes place in the newly former Big VIII, with Rick Neuheisel expected to be in attendance. Centennial boasts UCLA commit Ricky Marvray at receiver, and linebacker Brandon Brown, a 2010 prospect with a UCLA offer. Also, this could be defensive tackle Will Sutton's chance to impress the Bruin coaches as defensive line coach Todd Howard will also be there. North counters with the defensive stalwarts, all UCLA recruits, linebacker Maurice Cox, cornerback Marquise Cox and safety Lester White, and 2010 running back Emery Schexnayder
La Puente Bishop Amat at Loyola
In a game with numerous UCLA targets, Bishop Amat and Loyola meet in their Serra League opener. The Lancers are led by UCLA commits Sheldon Price at cornerback and linebacker Isaiah Bowens, as well as UCLA recruit Brent Seals. The Cubs counter with 2010 prospects John Young at TE/DT and running back Anthony Barr, both with UCLA offers, as well as 2010 linebacker Bronson Green.
Rancho Cucamonga at Los Osos
A week after handing Upland it's first loss, Los Osos looks to do the same with crosstown rival Rancho Cucamonga. The Grizzlies are led by UCLA committed quarterback Richard Brehaut, and Arby Fields, a three-star running back, had a breakout game last week, and looks to do it again. Rancho Cucamonga's top prospect is 2010 receiver Randal Telfer. UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel is expected to catch some of this contest as well.
Arcadia at Burbank Burroughs
Since his return to the lineup, Todd Golper, the UCLA committed linebacker, is averaging around 16 tackles a game, while being the Apaches offense. He'll look to get them back on track after a loss to Muir a week ago. They'll take on Burroughs, who's led by two-star offensive lineman Sebastian Valenzuela.
San Clemente at Mission Viejo
Mission Viejo got back on the winning side of things against Aliso Niguel and looks to keep pace with Tesoro and keep their slim South Coast League title hopes alive. Cal commit Allan Bridgford threw four touchdown passes a week ago, with UCLA commit Alex Mascarenas being one of them, and Mascarenas will anchor the Diablos defense against San Clemente, who's top player is linebacker Dylan Reda.
Visalia El Diamante at Visalia Redwood
El Diamante, which features the vaunted running game paced by senior back Stefphon Jefferson and UCLA commit Greg Capella in the trenches face cellar-dwelling crosstown foe Visalia Redwood.
Fontana Kaiser at Bloomington
UCLA commit Jayson Allmond leads the Bruins of Bloomington in an important Sunkist League contest against Fontana Kaiser, who stands atop the Sunkist League.
Pomona Diamond Ranch at Los Altos
Two perennially strong teams, Diamond Ranch, led by UCLA commit Brandon Sermons in the secondary, and Los Altos meet up in a game that matches two proud programs going through tough seasons.
Sherman Oaks Notre Dame at Encino Crespi
There will be talent on both sides as the youthful Celts of Crespi take on Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. Crespi leads off with 2009 receiver prospect Kevin Cummings and 2010 studs Bryan Bennett at quarterback, Hroniss Grasu at defensive end and guard, Ben Loth on the offensive line and receiver Blake Stanton. The Knights are led by UCLA recruit Jordan Barrett at linebacker, receiver James Flynn and 2010 quarterback Ryan Kasdorf.
