Here is a look at games involving UCLA commits and recruits in Week Eight from the prep football season.
Game of the Week: Corona Centennial def. Riverside North, 42-19
With head coach Rick Neuheisel in attendance, UCLA commit Ricky Marvray put together one of his best games at receiver. Marvray caught seven passes for 147 yards, scored a 70-yard touchdown and also recovered a fumble for a score. Senior running back Arthur Burns also ran for a pair of touchdowns in the win. Nebraska bound quarterback Taylor Martinez threw for 279 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 94 yards.
Loyola def. Bishop Amat, 17-6
Junior running back Anthony Barr, the owner of a UCLA offer, ran for 216 yards on 40 carries and scored a touchdown, and a defense led by John Young, also with a UCLA offer, and 2010 linebacker Bronson Green, sacked Bishop Amat eight times. UCLA commit Sheldon Price had a couple of tackles and blocked a field goal, fellow UCLA commit Isaiah Bowens had five tackles and a sack and Brent Seals added 15 tackles in the loss.
Rancho Cucamonga def. Los Osos, 27-21
Neuheisel also made it to see his future quarterback, Richard Brehaut, and Brehaut threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns, but also threw a pair of picks and Grizzlies dropped their first league game to crosstown foe Rancho Cucamonga in overtime.
Burbank Burroughs def. Arcadia, 56-9
UCLA commit Todd Golper was one of only 18 players to suit up for the Apaches, and while he did his part, the rest of his team didn't fare as well. Golper ran for 239 yards and a touchdown and added 14 tackles in the Apaches second straight loss.
Mission Viejo def. San Clemente, 42-37
The Diablos kept their slim South Coast League title hopes alive with a gritty five-point win over San Clemente. UCLA commit Alex Mascarenas had a 33-yard touchdown reception and Cal-bound quarterback Allan Bridgford threw for 242 yards in the win.
Visalia El Diamante def. Visalia Redwood, 48-15
El Diamante used the legs of senior running back Stefphon Jefferson and the vaunted offensive line, paced by UCLA commit Greg Capella for an easy victory over Redwood. Jefferson ran for 226 yards and four touchdowns on 31 carries and quarterback Josh Lorenzen was a model of efficiency, going 7-for-8 for 172 yards and two touchdowns.
Fontana Kaiser def. Bloomington, 14-0
UCLA commit Jayson Allmond and the Bruins were limited to only four yards on the ground, with Allmond doing his damage in the air, four catches for 41 yards, but they couldn't get much else going on offense, getting shutout by Kaiser.
Pomona Diamond Ranch def. Los Altos, 35-13
A spirited effort on the defensive side, led by UCLA commit Brandon Sermons, led Diamond Ranch to only their second win of the season. Sermons and the Diamond Ranch defense had four sacks and four interceptions in the win.
Sherman Oaks Notre Dame def. Encino Crespi, 37-17
Notre Dame junior Ryan Kasdorf outshined fellow junior passer Bryan Bennett of Crespi and helped the Knights avenge their lone Serra League loss from a year ago. Kasdorf was 20-for-26 for 320 yards and four touchdowns, seven passes going to James Flynn, who had 105 yards and scored three touchdowns. Bennett was harassed all night, was sacked for a safety, but did throw a touchdown pass in the final quarter.
Las Vegas Del Sol def. Las Vegas Silverado, 28-21
In the final game of his prep career, UCLA commit Keenan Graham had five tackles, two for loss, but it wasn't enough as Silverado dropped their season finale with Del Sol.
