Committed OL Weighs In

The player who first committed to the Bruins this recruiting season, offensive lineman P.J. Irvin, reacts to the news of UCLA head coach Bob Toledo being fired...

P.J Irvin, 6-4.5, 284, Agoura (Calif.) Agoura Hills, who committed to UCLA in late April, confirmed he's still committed to UCLA last night.

Asked if the firing of head coach Bob Toledo would affect his commitment, Irvin said, "I was pretty much going to UCLA for the school itself. I received a call from coach (Ron) Carragher tonight. He filled me in and asked me if I had any questions."

He is scheduled to take his official visit to UCLA later this month. "I believe it is December 19, 20 and 21." Would Irvin be considering changing the date until a new head coach is named? "As of right now I haven't decided to change the visit date."

Irvin did not seem too surprised by UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero's move. "It's just a great school. It's where I wanted to go from the start. It's a great place to get an education."

Irvin is one of the top five offensive linemen in the state and had a strong showing at the Nike Camp in Los Angeles.
