"Coach (Jim) Harbaugh called my house on Monday and that's when I heard the news that Stanford was offering," said Danser. "Obviously, I'm very excited because Stanford is a good school and a good program. I did honestly feel like it was going to happen."
The Cardinal have a commitment from his Bellarmine Prep teammate, Usua Amanam, and right away, Amanam was contributing his input.
"Usua, of course, talked up Stanford, and it's a good connection with him having committed there," said Danser. "I've talked with Coach (Chris) Dalman, the offensive line coach and they're recruiting me to play tackle."
The news of the Stanford offer was embraced by the Danser household. "My mom was very excited, she obviously thinks highly of Stanford and they like that it's not too far from home," said Danser. "Of course, you have to get the application in first so I'm trying to hammer out the application."
Meanwhile, two more Pac-10 schools are still heavily in the mix for Danser. "UCLA had coaches come up to my game when they played Cal and I'm talking to them once a week. A Cal coach said they were coming to a game, so I'm not closing the door on either of them," said Danser.
Danser said with three schools having offered being at the top his top five is rounded out by Cal and UCLA.
"I'm going to still look at them all, and I want to take some visits, hopefully take all five of them and visit my top five schools," said Danser.
In the meantime, Danser and his Bellarmine Prep teammates are preparing for the opening round of the CIF-CCS playoffs, which they'll start on Friday against Milpitas.
"It's pretty difficult focusing on recruiting when you really want to focus on your team. So I'm excited about the playoffs and that's where my focus is at," said Danser. "I'll worry about recruiting more when the season is done."
Academically, Danser has a 3.6 GPA and scored both a 1600 on the SAT and a 26 on the ACT.
