UCLA Coaches Out Evaluating

It's another day where the UCLA football coaches are out all across the Southland visiting high schools today and watching prospects in their games tonight. We've patched together a lits of some of the prospects UCLA coaches will be out visiting and checking out...

UCLA's coaches will again be out Friday scouting high school and JC prospects.

We've tried to piece together where they're going to go with information from various sources.

Head Coach Rick Neuheisel seems like he's going to be spending some time in Los Angeles today (without the use of a helicopter) at a handful of City Section schools and then tonight will be out watching his son, Jerry, a sophomore at Loyola, when the Cubs play Mission Viejo.

Lining up for Mission Viejo, he'll see UCLA-committed CB Alex Mascarenas, junior offensive tackle prospect Michael Criste and junior safety prospect Jake Marshall. The Diablos also have a talented back-up quarterback, who's been playing behind Cal-commit Allan Bridgford, junior Dallin McEwen. For the Cubs, they have the two juniors with UCLA offers, running back Anthony Barr and tight end/defensive tackle John Young and another junior prospect, linebacker Bronson Green.

We've also heard that Neuheisel, during the day, is going to visit some other high schools, including a trio of City Section schools, Crenshaw, Dorsey and Jordan.

UCLA linebacker coach Chuck Bullough will be in Ventura County for the evening, to watch St. Bonaventure play Newbury Park and will check on Patrick Hall, the safety committed to USC who's been to a handful of UCLA games this year, and the rest of the Seraphs' vaunted juniors. For Newbury Park there is defensive end prospect Jackson Powell, who has a couple of Pac-10 offers. Bullough will also be at Oaks Christian this evening for their playoff game with South Torrance, to see several of their stellar juniors, including OT Erik Kohler, LB Zac Stout, QB Nick Montana, DE Alani Fua, DT Cassius Marsh and RB Malcolm Jones. It's pretty important, actually, that UCLA makes Oaks a priority these days, as their junior class is probably the best in the state, and several of their underclassmen like UCLA.

Bullough is also planning to go by to visit Crespi, Taft and College of the Canyons, where UCLA's committed lineman, Shawn Johnson, plays.

UCLA defensive back coach Tim Hauck will be at the Ontario Colony/Ayala game this evening. That will give Hauck a chance to see junior receiver Kenneth Scott, who is one of the elite 2010 receiver prospects in the West and is close friends with UCLA-committed senior cornerbacks Sheldon Price and Brandon Sermons. Colony also has a handful of other juniors, linebacker twins Edward and Gregory Todd, safety Keith Hutchins and corners Jered and Jordan Bell.

UCLA defensive line coach Todd Howard, we've heard, will have a busy day himself, with the Santa Monica-Warren playoff game his final stop. Warren has three good juniors, receiver Bailey Cowens, running back Jesse Callier and defensive tackle Augafa Vaaluu. That's a tall order for Howard, who is still in a boot following surgery to his Achilles tendon (he rides an eletric car around UCLA's practice).

We're hearing that Reggie Moore will be in Santa Maria tonight to see Cathedral of Los Angeles play Santa Maria Pioneer Valley. Cathedral has Randall Carroll, the USC-committed receiver who UCLA is trying to get back in it with and junior receiver Anthony Jefferson.

UCLA running backs coach Wayne Moses will be hitting the Inland Empire hard again, going to the Corona Santiago-Redlands East Valley game tonight and possibly the Banning-Fontana Kaiser game. The Santiago-REV game will give him a chance to see elite 2010 quarterback Tyler Shreve from REV and some of the other 2010 guys for Santiago, like quarterback Brandon Connette and defensive back Tre Sayles, while also seeing 2009 cornerback Sean Martin and tight end Marlion Barnett, who despite committing to Washington, may still be open to a UCLA offer.

UCLA offensive line coach Bob Palcic, we've heard, will be at Servite-Lakewood this evening and will hit up Orange Lutheran and Tesoro today.
