Here is a look at games involving UCLA commits and recruits in the semifinals and finals of the prep football season.
Game of the Week: Los Osos at Upland
UCLA's committed quarterback from Los Osos, Richard Brehaut has never lost to his counterpart at Upland, Stanford-commit Josh Nunes, but Nunes will have one last chance to top Los Osos and Brehaut, and in the biggest game of either's career, the semifinals of the Central Division playoffs. The two face off on Saturday night with a spot in the finals on the line in a rematch of an earlier league game that Los Osos won by 12.
Murrieta Valley at Corona Centennial
The defending champion Huskies stand at 12-0 and just two games away from making it to the state championship bowl games, in either D-I or the Open Division, but first they have to put away Murrieta Valley. The Huskies are led by UCLA commit Ricky Marvray and running back Arthur Burns, who just committed to Washington State this weekend, while Murrieta Valley is paced by sleeper quarterback Lyle Negron.
West Covina at Pomona Diamond Ranch
Diamond Ranch entered the playoffs with a 4-6 record but have been money in the playoffs, winning its first two games in surprising fashion, thanks to the contributions of UCLA commit Brandon Sermons. They host West Covina on Saturday night with a chance to make it to the CIF-SS Southeast Division Finals.
Fresno Edison at Visalia El Diamante
The Tigers have their trio of All-Americans, safety T.J. McDonald, headed to USC, cornerback Cliff Harris and receiver Rolando Jefferson but they'll face a stiff test when they visit El Diamante, led by UCLA commit Greg Capella and a running game that features Stefphon Jefferson, who had over 300 of El Diamante's 400+ yards in rushing last week, in the Central Section D-II semifinals.
Honolulu Punahou vs. Leilehua
The Buffnblu are gunning for their first ever state title in football when they take on Leilehua at Aloha Stadium for the D-I crown. Punahou is led by the #1-linebacker in the country, Manti Te'o, and two UCLA commits, running back Dalton Hilliard and receiver Roby Toma, who's pick-six in the closing seconds against Farrington sealed the Buffnblu's trip to the state finals.
Lakewood at Long Beach Poly
The Jackrabbits, the top seed in the Pac-5 playoffs, are led by UCLA target Iuta Tepa, safety Stanjarvius McKay, cornerback Lazarri Middleton and Hawaii-commit George Daily-Lyles at linebacker and will face Moore League rival Lakewood, led by Arizona commit Trevor Erno, in the semifinals and keep their state bowl berth hopes alive.
Mt. San Antonio College at College of the Canyons
Two of UCLA's committed JC offensive lineman will face off in the Southern California Championship, with the winner moving on to the state title game next week. Canyons has offensive tackle Shawn Johnson while Mt. SAC has a lineman of their own committed to the Bruins, center Eddie Williams.
