Jordin Mayes, 6-1 JR PG/SG Los Angeles (Calif.) Westchester, is a versatile prospect who might play either guard spot in college. Mayes has an outstanding feel for the game and very good ball skills overall. He's one of the elite guards in the west for 2010.

I spoke with Mayes recently and asked about the schools that have been expressing interest in him.

"Colorado, Gonzaga, Washington State, Kansas, Texas A&M, Washington, USC, UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State and Marquette are some of them," said Mayes.

When asked if he's particularly high on any program, Mayes replied, "Kansas, UCLA, Gonzaga, Arizona State and Texas A&M," said Mayes.

Mayes talked a little about the issues he'll consider when picking a school.

"A good all-around program, how well the coaches coach and produce players for the next level," said Mayes. "The location isn't real important. I would like to be able to play right away and most schools are recruiting me to play right away."

I asked Mayes if he has a time frame for picking a school.

"Probably after the summer, sometime before my senior year," said Mayes.

Mayes said he previously had a 2.5 GPA, but believes that will be higher after this semester's grades are in.
