Fellner Continues to Shop Around

Nathan Fellner, the safety prospect from Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West, is verbally committed to Washington, but hasn't heard from anyone on the new Husky staff, so he continues to look at other schools. He took a visit to the desert last weekend...

Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West athlete Nathan Fellner (6-1, 195) took his first official visit over the weekend to Arizona, and he was pretty happy with the trip.

"It was real nice out there, and the visit went really good," said Fellner. "I really liked it. I've got to take Arizona into consideration now. I thought it was a nice place."

Fellner was hosted by hometown friend Robert Golden, who he works out with in the off-season, as well as freshman lineman Jowyn Ward.

On the trip, Fellner spoke with the Arizona coaches at length, specifically head coach Mike Stoops. "Coach Stoops is a real good coach and he's got a lot of good experience coaching safeties and produced good ones from when he was at Oklahoma," said Fellner.

Fellner committed to Washington during the summer but has been looking at other schools. Since the hiring of Steve Sarkisian as the Huskies' new head coach, Fellner has yet to hear from anyone at Washington.

"I haven't talked to Sarkisian at all and I'm still waiting for a call from Washington," said Fellner. "I'm going to try and call the athletic director this week to set up a visit. I'm still committed to Washington, but I'm really high on Arizona right now. And I'm waiting on Colorado, too. I'm visiting there in January."

Fellner said that Arizona State has recently gotten into contact with him and could be next to offer. "Arizona State came down to my school last week and they talked about offering," said Fellner. "They said they are going to call me this week and let me know."

Fellner is also considering both Cal and UCLA, though neither have offered the three-star safety. "I'm still really interested in Cal and UCLA, especially if they offer," said Fellner.

In the meantime, he's focusing on four schools. "It's Washington, Arizona, Colorado and Arizona State," said Fellner. "I won't finalize a decision until after I visit Washington and I take my visit to Colorado. We'll see how it goes from there."
