Salt Lake City (Utah) Cottonwood offensive guard John Martinez had had a solid start to practice at the UnderArmour All-America Game in Orlando.

This weekend, the long recruitment of Martinez will come to an end when the #3-ranked guard makes his decision.

Three schools are left in the mix for Martinez: USC, LSU and UCLA, and he talked about each one.

LSU: "I really like LSU, I picked them because I like the coaching staff and the environment all around. The fact that they are a good school in the SEC means a lot."

USC: "I like USC also because they are a great program and they have great coaches like Pete Carroll and Coach (Pat) Ruel and a great coaching staff."

UCLA: "I like UCLA because of the campus and I think Rick Neuheisel and the freshman class is a really good class and I can help them out."

Martinez had considered visits to Arkansas and Cal, but it looks like those visits won't happen.

"After I announce, I'm done," said Martinez. "I decided I wanted to decide from the three schools I visited."

Martinez has been heavily recruited since early in his junior year, but he's glad it's coming to an end.

"Knowing that the end is near is nice and a relief," said Martinez.

In the meantime, Martinez is enjoying the experience of playing in Orlando.

"Playing with all these guys, with all this talent is a very good experience. Just being around talent, knowing that every guy around you has the same playing style, it's been fun," said Martinez.
