But since the fall, there had been rumblings that Sanders was going to switch his commitment to UCLA.
Over the weekend, on his official visit to Westwood, Sanders announced his decision.
"I committed to UCLA last night while on my visit," said Sanders. "It really had a lot to do with my major. I want to major in cinematography and L.A. is where it's at. That was a big reason."
But it wasn't the only reason.
"I also really like the coaching staff at UCLA. Coach (Rick) Neuheisel really has an electric personality and makes you want to play for him. I got a chance to talk with him a lot and with Coach (Todd) Howard."
A two-way threat, Sanders plays both tight end and defensive end, and will come to UCLA as a defensive end.
"I just want to play wherever I can get on the field and help out. I like both positions, so it didn't really matter to me that UCLA said they wanted me as a defensive end. I like both spots."
Sanders was hosted by Kevin Prince, and got to meet several of the other commits, recruits and players.
"Kevin was a cool host and we just hung out a lot with the other players. They're all really tight with each other," said Sanders.
Sanders is ranked as the #2 player in Idaho by Scout.com.
